Location: Denver, Colorado (Hybrid)
Compensation: $130,000 - $165,000 Base Salary

Position Overview

An established engineering and technology organization is seeking a Senior SCADA/PLC Programmer to support automation, controls, and system integration projects across critical infrastructure and industrial facilities. This role will focus on PLC programming, HMI development, telemetry integration, remote monitoring systems, and operational technology projects supporting a variety of industrial and utility environments.

The ideal candidate enjoys solving complex automation challenges while working directly with engineering teams, operations personnel, and project stakeholders to deliver reliable and scalable control system solutions.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, modify, test, and troubleshoot PLC control logic and HMI applications.
  • Support control system modernization, automation upgrades, and new facility implementations.
  • Configure and integrate SCADA systems, remote monitoring equipment, and telemetry networks.
  • Develop programming standards, functional descriptions, operator documentation, and technical procedures.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, technicians, and operations personnel throughout project execution.
  • Participate in system startup, site acceptance testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Support networked industrial control systems and communications infrastructure.
  • Evaluate existing automation systems and recommend improvements to reliability, maintainability, and performance.
  • Assist with control panel integration and field device commissioning.

Required Qualifications

  • 6+ years of hands-on PLC programming and SCADA/HMI development experience.
  • Associate's degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Automation Technology, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
  • Formal training in industrial automation platforms and SCADA software.
  • 3+ years of experience supporting industrial process facilities, utility systems, manufacturing operations, or infrastructure-related automation projects.
  • Strong understanding of control system architecture, instrumentation, and industrial networking.

  • Experience with industrial communication protocols including:

    • Modbus RTU
    • Modbus TCP/IP
    • Ethernet/IP
    • Profibus
    • DNP3
  • Experience with PLC platforms such as:

    • Allen-Bradley / Rockwell Automation
    • Siemens
    • Schneider Electric
    • GE / Emerson
  • Familiarity with SCADA and HMI platforms including:

    • FactoryTalk View
    • Ignition
    • VTScada
    • Wonderware
    • Citect
    • iFIX
  • Experience supporting:

    • Remote telemetry systems
    • Critical infrastructure facilities
    • Industrial process controls
    • Utility operations
    • Industrial networking and communications
