Position Overview
We are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Estimator with a strong background in new construction roofing projects in NYC. This role is critical in driving accurate pricing, competitive bids, and successful project acquisition across commercial and residential developments.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for new construction roofing projects (commercial, residential, mixed-use)
- Analyze project drawings, specifications, and bid documents
- Perform quantity take-offs and labor/material costing
- Develop comprehensive bid proposals and scopes of work
- Collaborate with project managers, subcontractors, and suppliers to obtain accurate pricing
- Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits as required
- Maintain strong knowledge of NYC construction codes, union requirements, and roofing systems
- Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality and compliance standards
- Track and manage bid pipeline and deadlines
Requirements
- 5+ years of estimating experience specifically in new construction roofing
- Proven experience working on projects within New York City
- Strong understanding of roofing systems (flat roofing, waterproofing, membranes, etc.)
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Experience with estimating software and takeoff tools (e.g., Bluebeam, PlanSwift, OST, etc.)
- Knowledge of NYC building codes and local market pricing
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with a general contractor or roofing subcontractor in NYC
- Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (preferred but not required)
- Established relationships with NYC vendors and suppliers
