Senior Civil Engineer
An established multidisciplinary design and engineering consultancy is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to join its growing team. This position offers the opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of public and private sector projects, including parks and open spaces, waterfront developments, university campuses, stormwater and green infrastructure, public realm improvements, utility systems, and transportation infrastructure.
The successful candidate will be involved in all project phases, from concept development and detailed design through construction administration.
Location
- Remote within New York State, or based out of offices in Albany, Buffalo, Ithaca, or New York City.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and delivery of civil engineering projects involving:
- Site design and development
- Grading and drainage
- Roadway and pavement design
- Stormwater management systems
- Water and sanitary sewer infrastructure
- Erosion and sediment control
- Prepare and oversee conceptual layouts, construction drawings, technical specifications, reports, cost estimates, SWPPPs, stormwater calculations, and utility designs.
- Coordinate, delegate, and review work completed by junior engineers and designers while providing mentorship and technical guidance.
- Manage construction administration activities, including submittal reviews, RFI responses, site observations, and quality assurance.
- Support business development efforts through proposal preparation, client presentations, and marketing initiatives.
- Collaborate closely with architects, landscape architects, environmental professionals, surveyors, and other engineering disciplines.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Landscape Architecture, or a related discipline.
- 10+ years of relevant civil engineering experience.
- New York State Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred; EIT candidates with extensive experience may also be considered.
- Strong technical proficiency with:
- Microsoft Office Suite
- AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation
- HydroCAD or similar stormwater modelling software preferred
- Excellent communication, organisation, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
Compensation
- Competitive salary ranging from $100,000-$150,000, depending on experience, qualifications, and overall fit.
