Senior Drainage Engineer / Engineering Lead

Job Description
The Senior Drainage Engineer/Engineering Lead will serve as a technical and strategic leader within the transportation practice. The successful candidate will oversee drainage design efforts, guide project teams, support client development, and provide mentorship to engineering staff while ensuring the successful delivery of complex transportation projects across the state.Key Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience delivering transportation drainage projects throughout Florida
- Extensive experience working with FDOT, including multiple districts and/or Florida's Turnpike Enterprise
- Experience with urban drainage systems and limited-access roadway projects
- Experience with local government transportation and trail projects
- Experience obtaining stormwater permits through Florida water management districts and regulatory agencies
- Proficiency preparing Pond Siting Reports, Bridge Hydraulic Reports, and other drainage-related documentation
- Experience utilizing ICPR, HEC-RAS, and other hydraulic modeling software
- Working knowledge of OpenRoads Designer Drainage, MicroStation, GeoPAK Drainage, or similar platforms
- Previous experience leading drainage teams and mentoring engineering staff
- Strong client-facing, project management, and leadership skills
Responsibilities
- Lead drainage design and stormwater management efforts for transportation infrastructure projects
- Serve as a technical advisor on complex drainage, permitting, and hydraulic engineering challenges
- Oversee hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, drainage reports, and engineering calculations
- Manage project schedules, budgets, and technical deliverables
- Coordinate with roadway, bridge, environmental, and traffic engineering teams
- Guide quality control and quality assurance efforts across drainage projects
- Build and maintain relationships with FDOT, municipalities, and other public agencies
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers while supporting staff development initiatives
- Assist with project pursuits, proposal preparation, and business development activities
- Support strategic growth initiatives for the transportation and drainage practice

Experience
- 10+ years of drainage, stormwater, and transportation engineering experience
- Experience delivering FDOT transportation projects throughout Florida
- Experience managing projects, coordinating multidisciplinary teams, and mentoring engineering staff preferred
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering required
- Master's Degree preferred
Certifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required
- Multi-state licensure or ability to obtain reciprocity preferred
- Valid driver's license required
