Senior Geotechnical Engineer
We are partnering with a nationally recognized engineering consulting firm to identify a Senior Geotechnical Engineer for their growing Austin office. This position offers the opportunity to work on complex and impactful water resources projects, including dams, levees, reservoirs, embankments, and other critical infrastructure throughout Texas and across the United States.
This role is ideal for a licensed Professional Engineer who enjoys solving challenging geotechnical problems, contributing to major infrastructure projects, and working closely with multidisciplinary teams. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to take ownership of projects, mentor junior staff, and further develop their technical and leadership skills within a highly regarded engineering practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead geotechnical investigations, analyses, and design efforts for water resources and dam-related projects.
- Perform and review engineering analyses, including slope stability, seepage, settlement, earthwork, and foundation design.
- Support the planning, design, rehabilitation, and risk assessment of dams, levees, reservoirs, embankments, and related infrastructure.
- Prepare and review technical reports, engineering calculations, specifications, and recommendations.
- Coordinate with civil, structural, environmental, and water resources professionals to deliver successful project outcomes.
- Manage project budgets, schedules, and client expectations.
- Participate in client meetings, proposal development, and business development activities.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers and project staff.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- 5+ years of geotechnical engineering experience.
- Experience supporting water resources, dams, levees, heavy civil, or related infrastructure projects preferred.
- Strong understanding of soil mechanics, foundation engineering, slope stability, seepage, and geotechnical design principles.
- Proven technical report writing and project coordination experience.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
