Senior Mechanical Building Services Engineer

Location: Singapore
Reports to: Team Leader

Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Building Services Engineer to join a dynamic Singapore-based team. This role will lead and contribute to the mechanical design of multiple projects, ensuring high technical standards, strong project delivery, and effective mentoring of junior team members.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record of delivering projects from inception through to completion and demonstrate strong technical capability in mechanical building services design, including HVAC, low-carbon systems, and public health engineering. A general understanding of wider building services disciplines is also expected.

Key Responsibilities

Project Delivery

  • Lead mechanical design across multiple projects from concept through to completion
  • Ensure designs align with client briefs, project requirements, and quality standards
  • Prepare and review calculations, design reports, schematics, and layout drawings
  • Manage and coordinate design deliverables for medium-sized projects
  • Maintain high technical quality and timely delivery of outputs

Planning & Coordination

  • Develop project work plans, including tasks, milestones, and resourcing
  • Manage weekly and long-term project priorities
  • Participate in team and resourcing meetings
  • Ensure alignment with internal and client requirements

Team Leadership & Mentoring

  • Allocate work to junior and graduate engineers
  • Provide technical mentoring and guidance
  • Monitor and review work completed by junior team members
  • Support the development and progression of the wider team

Client & Commercial Responsibilities

  • Maintain and develop client relationships
  • Demonstrate commercial awareness in project delivery
  • Support business development through existing and new relationships
  • Collaborate with senior engineers on broader project delivery

Reporting

Weekly reporting on:
  • Project progress
  • Risks and issues
  • Client concerns
Monthly reporting on:
  • Resource planning
  • Strategic input to team development
  • Progression of junior team members

Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in mechanical building services design
  • Professional accreditation (or actively working towards accreditation) preferred

Skills & Experience

  • Strong technical capability in mechanical building services engineering
  • Experience in:
    • HVAC systems
    • Low-carbon / energy-efficient systems
    • Public health engineering
  • Understanding of wider building services disciplines, including:
    • Electrical systems
    • Building Management Systems (BMS)
    • Building Energy Management Systems (BEMS)
  • Experience across multiple project design stages
  • Ability to independently manage medium-sized projects
  • Strong planning, organisational, and communication skills
  • Experience mentoring or supporting junior engineers
  • Good client-facing and stakeholder management capability
  • Commercial awareness in engineering project delivery
