The Opportunity
This role is ideal for a senior wastewater treatment professional who enjoys balancing technical excellence, client engagement, and team development.

You'll act as a trusted technical advisor across complex municipal wastewater projects while helping win and deliver high-profile programmes that improve communities and protect critical water resources.

The position offers a blend of technical leadership, project collaboration, business development, and mentoring, giving you visibility across some of the most significant treatment projects in the industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead wastewater treatment process design and technical delivery for municipal infrastructure projects from planning through detailed design.
  • Act as a subject matter expert across conventional activated sludge, BNR, MBR, tertiary treatment, disinfection, sidestream treatment, and advanced wastewater processes.
  • Develop and review process flow diagrams (PFDs), P&IDs, design criteria reports, basis of design memoranda, process models, and mass balance calculations.
  • Perform treatment process evaluations, technology selection studies, pilot testing reviews, and optimisation assessments.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver innovative treatment solutions for complex water and wastewater facilities.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, providing technical guidance, strategic planning support, and regulatory compliance expertise.
  • Support business development activities through proposal development, client presentations, technical interviews, and pursuit strategy.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with municipal utilities, industry partners, and key stakeholders.
  • Mentor, coach, and develop junior and mid-level engineers while fostering a culture of technical excellence and knowledge sharing.
  • Contribute to practice growth by identifying emerging market trends, innovative technologies, and new service opportunities.
  • Present technical papers, project successes, and thought leadership initiatives at local, regional, and national industry events.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, Chemical, or related Engineering discipline.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) licence or ability to obtain one.
  • 10+ years of experience delivering municipal wastewater treatment projects.
  • Strong understanding of biological and advanced wastewater treatment processes.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary design teams and complex technical workstreams.
  • Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
