Senior Project Controls Engineer

Overview:

Our client is seeking a skilled Project Controls Engineer to join a growing team supporting major construction projects. This is an excellent opportunity for a project controls professional looking to take ownership of scheduling and project controls activities while working alongside experienced industry leaders.


The Opportunity

As a Project Controls Engineer, you will provide scheduling and project controls support across large-scale construction projects. Working closely with project managers, construction teams, and key stakeholders, you will develop, maintain, and analyze CPM schedules while supporting broader project controls initiatives throughout the project lifecycle.

This role offers strong long-term career progression and exposure to complex projects valued at over $100 million.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and monitor construction CPM schedules.
  • Review project documentation and specifications to create accurate baseline schedules.
  • Perform schedule updates, reporting, and narrative analyses.
  • Evaluate project schedules and provide strategic recommendations.
  • Conduct critical path analysis and identify schedule risks and mitigation strategies.
  • Participate in site walks to validate project progress.
  • Prepare and present monthly project controls reports.
  • Review contractor schedules and progress performance.
  • Develop project KPIs, metrics, and benchmarking tools.
  • Support cost and resource management reporting.
  • Identify and assess project risks and schedule impacts.
  • Communicate project status, challenges, and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with owners, contractors, project teams, and senior leadership.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of project controls and CPM scheduling experience within the construction industry.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, Project Management, or a related discipline preferred.
  • Strong proficiency with Oracle Primavera P6.
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Understanding of construction means, methods, and sequencing.
  • Experience developing and managing schedules for projects exceeding $100M.
  • Familiarity with cost and resource management principles.
  • Knowledge of contract requirements related to planning and scheduling.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment.
  • AACEI PSP and/or PMI-SP certifications are advantageous.
  • Willingness to travel periodically to project sites within the region.
