About the Opportunity
An established multidisciplinary engineering consulting firm is seeking a Traffic Engineer Technical Lead to provide technical leadership, quality oversight, and strategic direction for traffic engineering and transportation projects across a growing national footprint.
This is an excellent opportunity for a senior traffic engineering professional who enjoys serving as a technical expert, mentoring staff, improving project delivery standards, and helping drive growth within a transportation practice. The role offers flexibility in work location and the chance to influence a wide variety of transportation projects serving public and private-sector clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership and oversight for traffic engineering and transportation planning projects.
- Lead and review traffic impact studies, transportation analyses, traffic signal warrant studies, and corridor evaluations.
- Oversee the preparation and review of traffic signal designs, signing and pavement marking plans, maintenance of traffic plans, and related transportation documents.
- Serve as a technical resource and mentor to engineering staff across multiple offices.
- Support project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and quality control efforts.
- Participate in proposal development, presentations, client meetings, and business development initiatives.
- Assist with strategic growth initiatives for traffic engineering services.
- Establish and enhance quality assurance and quality control processes to improve consistency and technical excellence.
- Stay current with FHWA guidance, MUTCD requirements, and industry best practices.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- 15+ years of progressive experience in traffic engineering and transportation.
- Strong understanding of traffic operations, traffic safety, traffic signal systems, and transportation planning.
- Experience managing and reviewing traffic impact studies, traffic signal improvement projects, and related traffic engineering work.
- Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities independently while collaborating within a team environment.
- Willingness to travel periodically for client meetings, project needs, and office collaboration.
Preferred
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) certification.
- Experience supporting business development and client relationship management efforts.
Compensation
$130,000 - $160,000 base salary
Compensation will be commensurate with experience, technical expertise, certifications, and overall qualifications.
