Senior Water Resources Engineer
An established multidisciplinary engineering and environmental consulting firm is seeking a Senior Water Resources Engineer to join its growing team in Philadelphia. This position offers the opportunity to lead and deliver a diverse range of water resources projects for municipal, transportation, and public sector clients throughout Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
The successful candidate will play a key role in managing projects, leading technical analyses, mentoring staff, and helping clients navigate complex stormwater, flooding, drainage, and watershed challenges. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer looking to take ownership of projects while contributing to a collaborative and technically-focused team environment.
Responsibilities
- Manage and deliver water resources engineering projects from planning through final design and construction.
- Lead hydrologic and hydraulic analyses for stormwater management systems, drainage infrastructure, flood studies, stream restoration, and watershed improvement projects.
- Prepare and review technical reports, calculations, engineering plans, specifications, and permitting documentation.
- Develop stormwater management strategies and designs that comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Support the design of drainage systems for transportation, municipal, and infrastructure projects.
- Coordinate with regulatory agencies, municipalities, and project stakeholders throughout project development.
- Provide construction support services, including review of RFIs, shop drawings, contractor submittals, and site observations.
- Manage project schedules, budgets, and technical deliverables.
- Collaborate with clients and multidisciplinary project teams to develop innovative and cost-effective solutions.
- Assist with proposal development, technical approaches, and business development efforts.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers and technical staff.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- 5+ years of progressive water resources engineering experience.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Pennsylvania and/or New Jersey, or ability to obtain within one year.
- Strong experience performing hydrologic and hydraulic modelling and analysis.
- Proficiency with software such as:
- HEC-RAS
- PCSWMM
- HydroCAD
- Hydraflow
- Stormsewers or similar H&H modelling platforms
- Experience with stormwater management design, drainage studies, floodplain analysis, and watershed planning.
- Familiarity with PADEP, PennDOT, NJDEP, and local municipal regulations.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- GIS experience and integration of geospatial datasets into engineering workflows is a plus.
- Strong communication, organisation, and project management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Valid driver's licence and authorization to work in the United States.
