Senior Director / Director, Solutions Engineering

Overview

Our client is a rapidly growing digital infrastructure platform focused on delivering next-generation data center solutions across the Asia-Pacific region. As part of continued expansion, they are seeking an experienced Senior Director / Director, Solutions Engineering to lead customer-centric technical solution development and support strategic growth initiatives across key markets.

This role will serve as the critical bridge between customers, commercial teams, engineering, design, construction, and operations, ensuring technical solutions align with customer requirements, operational objectives, and business strategy.

The successful candidate will possess deep expertise in data center infrastructure, power and cooling systems, capacity planning, and customer solution development, combined with strong commercial acumen and stakeholder management capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Solutions & Technical Leadership

• Lead the development of customized data center infrastructure solutions for enterprise, hyperscale, AI/HPC, cloud, and colocation customers.
• Translate customer business and technical requirements into scalable, cost-effective, and operationally efficient solutions.
• Own the end-to-end technical solutioning process from initial customer engagement through contract execution.
• Develop conceptual designs, technical specifications, capacity models, and infrastructure proposals.
• Provide expert guidance on critical facility infrastructure including:
  • Electrical distribution systems
  • Mechanical cooling systems
  • Redundancy architecture
  • Rack power density planning
  • AI and high-performance computing deployments
  • Sustainability and energy efficiency initiatives

Commercial & Pre-Sales Support

• Partner closely with business development and sales teams during customer pursuits and RFP processes.
• Serve as the technical lead during customer meetings, presentations, workshops, and negotiations.
• Develop technical narratives that clearly articulate solution benefits, performance capabilities, scalability, and operational resilience.
• Support pricing strategies through infrastructure sizing, resource allocation, and cost estimation.
• Assist in contract reviews and facilitate technical risk assessments.

Design & Engineering Coordination

• Work closely with Design, Engineering, Construction, and Operations teams to ensure proposed solutions are technically feasible and aligned with platform standards.
• Drive technical governance and consistency across solution offerings.
• Evaluate customer requests for infrastructure modifications, upgrades, and bespoke requirements.
• Provide technical oversight on design reviews and customer fit-out requirements.
• Support new product and service development initiatives.

Strategic Planning & Innovation

• Track emerging industry trends, particularly in:
  • AI infrastructure
  • High-density deployments
  • Liquid cooling technologies
  • Sustainability solutions
  • Energy efficiency improvements
  • Alternative power strategies
• Support regional growth strategies through technical market intelligence and customer insights.
• Contribute to product roadmap development and service innovation initiatives.
• Evaluate new technologies and recommend enhancements to the organization's solution portfolio.

Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement

• Build strong relationships with customers, consultants, technology partners, and internal stakeholders.
• Mentor and develop engineering and solutions team members.
• Act as a trusted advisor for both customers and executive leadership.
• Support cross-functional collaboration across commercial, engineering, construction, and operational teams regionally.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Data Center Engineering, or a related field.
• Master's degree is advantageous.

Experience

• 12+ years of experience within the data center, critical facilities, digital infrastructure, or mission-critical environments.
• Proven experience in solutions engineering, technical consulting, pre-sales engineering, or infrastructure solution development.
• Strong understanding of data center design and operational requirements.
• Experience supporting hyperscale, cloud, colocation, AI/HPC, or enterprise customers.
• Demonstrated success in customer-facing technical leadership roles.
• Experience working across multiple APAC markets is highly desirable.

Technical Expertise

• Deep understanding of:
  • Data center electrical and mechanical systems
  • Tier III/Tier IV design principles
  • Capacity planning and utilization modeling
  • High-density compute environments
  • AI and GPU infrastructure requirements
  • Liquid cooling technologies
  • Sustainability and energy efficiency strategies
• Familiarity with industry standards and best practices.
• Ability to evaluate technical, operational, and commercial trade-offs.
