Summary Description:

The Project Engineer plays a lead technical role in the design, coordination and execution of engineering projects. This role provides advanced technical experience and coordination with Clients in the delivery of work products. The Project Engineer has gained sufficient technical experience to begin assisting with delivering all aspects of a small project, or portions of large projects, with minimal guidance. The role emphasizes project delivery, interdisciplinary coordination and contract administration during construction. Common titles include Structural Project Engineer, Civil Project Engineer, SUE Project Engineer.

Qualifications:

  • Professional Engineering Licensure (PE) or equivalent experience

Experience:

  • 4+ years of relevant experience

Authority - this role has the authority to:

  • Perform complex design tasks of components and systems
  • Perform complex engineering analysis tasks
  • Perform complex design and drafting tasks independently
  • Lead contract administration tasks on large projects
  • Identify complex design, analysis and drafting tasks needed to be complete
  • Assign and oversee all tasks and training for Junior Staff
  • Under the supervision of a PM, communicate directly with Client
  • Under the supervision of a PM, coordinate directly with other disciplines

Accountability - this role is accountable for:

  • Completing assigned tasks accurately and on time
  • Ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards
  • Communicating task backlog with PM/DM/EOR
  • Prioritizing continuing education opportunities
  • Ensuring the completion of work assigned to Junior Staff
  • Overseeing the complete training of Junior Staff
  • Ensure project execution from start to finish on small projects
  • Ensure documentation of drawings, calculations and specifications
  • Adherence to QA/QC procedures

Measurable outcomes:

  • Deliver tasks on schedule
  • Accuracy of work completed
  • Frequency of markups requiring rework
  • Accuracy and completeness of work assigned to Junior Staff
  • RFIs and submittals returned within requested time
  • Deliver small projects on schedule
  • Deliver small projects within budget

Responsibilities - this role is responsible for:

  • Adhere to department BIM/drawing standards
  • Checking of own work
  • Markup correction during QAQC process
  • Adhere to applicable building codes
  • Verification of Junior Staff's work during QAQC process
  • Coordinating with Client and other disciplines (with supervision)
  • Completing Project documents on small projects
  • Perform backcheck during QA/QC process
  • Managing Contract Administration on all projects
