Salary: $120,000 - $150,000 base salary
Experience: 5+ Years
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
Licensing: PE or EIT preferred
Overview
We are seeking a Substation Project Engineer to support the execution of electric utility and power delivery projects. This role is ideal for an engineer with a background in either Substation Physical Design or Protection & Control (P&C) Design who is interested in taking on increased project leadership responsibilities while remaining technically involved.
The successful candidate will work closely with engineering teams, clients, and project stakeholders to help deliver substation projects from planning through design and construction support. This role offers flexibility with remote work and hybrid options for candidates located near one of our office locations.
Responsibilities
- Support the planning, execution, and delivery of substation projects for utility, cooperative, municipal, and industrial clients.
- Coordinate engineering activities across multidisciplinary project teams.
- Develop project schedules, track deliverables, and assist with project budgeting and resource planning.
- Serve as a technical point of contact for clients and internal stakeholders.
- Review engineering designs, calculations, drawings, and project documentation.
- Assist with proposal development, project scope definition, and client communications.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers and designers.
- Support construction activities, field coordination, and issue resolution as needed.
- Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with quality, safety, and client requirements.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of substation engineering experience.
- Background in either:
- Substation Physical Design, or
- Protection & Control (P&C) Design.
- Experience supporting utility, consulting, EPC, or power delivery projects.
- Strong understanding of substation design processes and project execution.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills.
- PE license or EIT certification preferred.
