Substation Supervisor / Construction Manager
Oversee field execution of substation construction projects, ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, and to quality standards. This role will coordinate crews, subcontractors, and client stakeholders while managing day-to-day site operations on utility infrastructure projects.
- Lead and supervise field crews and subcontractors on substation construction activities
- Manage daily site operations including scheduling, manpower planning, and material coordination
- Ensure strict adherence to safety policies, OSHA regulations, and company procedures
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and clients to keep work progressing smoothly
- Monitor project schedules and proactively address delays or conflicts in the field
- Oversee installation of foundations, steel erection, bus work, equipment setting, cable installation, and terminations
- Conduct site walks, toolbox talks, and safety meetings
- Review drawings, specifications, and scope to ensure accurate execution
- Track production, quantities, and site progress; provide regular updates to leadership
- Ensure quality control and compliance with project standards and utility requirements
- Support commissioning efforts and project closeout activities
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in substation construction or related utility infrastructure work
- Prior experience leading crews or serving in a foreman/superintendent-level role
- Strong understanding of substation construction practices and sequencing
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Familiarity with safety standards and jobsite compliance expectations
- Strong communication and coordination skills
Preferred:
- Experience working with utility clients or EPC contractors
- Background in high-voltage (HV) environments
- OSHA certifications or equivalent safety training
This is a field-based leadership role supporting substation construction efforts in the Fayetteville, NC area.
