Business Development Representative - Industrial Automation & Digital Solutions

Location: Remote - Western United States
Candidates should be based in Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington, or other Western U.S. locations.

Role Overview

We are seeking a motivated Business Development Representative to help expand our presence across the manufacturing, life sciences, water/wastewater, and critical infrastructure markets. This is a fully remote position focused on generating new client relationships, identifying project opportunities, and supporting revenue growth through consultative engagement with prospective customers throughout the Western U.S.

The ideal candidate has experience selling engineering services, automation solutions, controls integration, or other technical services and is looking to grow within a fast-paced industrial technology environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities within target markets.
  • Generate and qualify leads through outbound prospecting, networking, referrals, and industry engagement.
  • Build relationships with engineering managers, operations leaders, plant personnel, and executive stakeholders.
  • Schedule and support client meetings, discovery calls, and technical presentations.
  • Maintain and grow a healthy sales pipeline through consistent business development activity.
  • Support proposal development and project pursuits alongside engineering and operations teams.
  • Track opportunities, client activity, and forecasting information within CRM systems.
  • Attend industry conferences, trade shows, and networking events to strengthen market presence.
  • Support strategic account growth initiatives and long-term client development efforts throughout the Western region.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Marketing, or a related field preferred.
  • 3-5+ years of experience in business development, technical sales, account management, recruiting, engineering services sales, or related customer-facing roles.
  • Experience working with industrial automation, controls, manufacturing, engineering consulting, or technical services is preferred.
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a remote environment.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 40% throughout the Western United States.

Preferred Background

  • Exposure to industrial automation technologies such as PLCs, SCADA, MES, controls integration, or digital manufacturing systems.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing, utilities, water/wastewater, life sciences, food & beverage, or critical infrastructure clients.
  • Familiarity with consultative or solution-based sales approaches.
  • Experience using CRM systems and pipeline management tools.

Compensation

Base Salary: $100,000 - $150,000+, depending on experience, industry background, and business development track record.

Additional performance-based bonuses and incentive opportunities are available for top performers.
