Position Overview
A leading utility infrastructure contractor is seeking an experienced Vice President of Utility Operations to provide strategic leadership and drive growth across its utility construction business. This executive will be responsible for overseeing operations, client relationships, business development, financial performance, and project execution throughout the region.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in utility construction, transmission and distribution, substation projects, and operational leadership, along with a proven ability to grow revenue, develop teams, and maintain strong client partnerships.
Responsibilities
- Lead all utility operations, including transmission, distribution, substation, and related infrastructure projects.
- Drive business growth through strategic planning, client development, and market expansion initiatives.
- Oversee financial performance, including P&L management, budgeting, forecasting, and profitability.
- Build and maintain relationships with utilities, municipalities, engineering firms, and key stakeholders.
- Ensure successful execution of projects through effective leadership of operations, project management, and field teams.
- Collaborate with estimating and business development teams to secure new opportunities and expand existing accounts.
- Develop and mentor Project Executives, Project Managers, Construction Managers, and operational leaders.
- Promote a culture focused on safety, quality, accountability, and operational excellence.
- Manage workforce planning, resource allocation, and long-term organizational growth.
- Support contract negotiations, risk management, and strategic decision-making.
Qualifications
- 15+ years of experience within utility construction, power delivery, transmission, distribution, or substation markets.
- Demonstrated success leading large-scale utility operations and construction programs.
- Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets, forecasts, and business-unit performance.
- Proven ability to develop client relationships and generate new business opportunities.
- Experience managing multi-disciplinary teams across operations, project management, and construction.
- Deep understanding of utility construction practices, project delivery, and industry safety standards.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or a related field preferred.
