Qualifications:

  • 5+ years' experience with Municipal, Water and/or Wastewater projects (Plants, Pump Stations, Water, Sewer, Stormwater and/or Lift Stations)
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent
  • Professional Engineering (PE) Registration in the state of Michigan (ability to obtain within 6 months)
  • Experience in the evaluation, planning, design and construction of one or more of the following projects: Water & Wastewater Treatment)
  • Ability to visit and safely traverse construction and project sites, complying with all applicable safety codes and requirements

Job responsibilities:

* Perform water, wastewater and storm-water engineering and construction assignments of a complex nature for municipal and water/wastewater clients based in the beautiful Grand Rapids.
* As a Senior Project Engineer, you would lead and direct engineers, provide them with technical support when it comes to reviewing and preparation of plans and specifications for water, wastewater, and storm-water projects.
* Direct the planning and development of Water, Wastewater and Stormwater projects from planning and procurement through start-up and construction.
* Prepare construction cost estimates, perform construction monitoring, and coordinate field activities.
* Review proposed contracts to determine significant parameters, time schedules and mileposts and define the major task areas.
* Delegate the planning and development of project scope, procedures, and budget.
* Ensure contractual commitments are met and the work is being performed per the client's instructions.
* Attend client meetings; these being project meetings, council meetings, board meetings.
* Up keep effective relationships with members of all divisions within the firm and departments responsible for performing services related to the project.
* Be responsible for project quality control - control and/or review project forecasts, schedules, cost estimates and reports.
* Monitor fees and budgets, report problems to the appropriate Program Managers and task leaders.
* Be actively involved in civic and professional activities, societies and organizations.
