Senior Pipeline Engineer
Location: Southeastern U.S. (Multiple Office Locations)
An established engineering consulting and EPC organization is seeking a Senior Pipeline Engineer to support pipeline design and engineering projects across the United States. This role is responsible for leading pipeline engineering efforts, mentoring junior staff, coordinating multidisciplinary project teams, and serving as a key technical resource on projects ranging from utility distribution system upgrades to large-scale transmission pipelines. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the execution of pipeline engineering and design activities.
- Develop pipeline design deliverables including plans, profiles, details, and material take-offs.
- Coordinate survey, geotechnical, permitting, right-of-way, and land acquisition activities.
- Perform engineering calculations and prepare technical studies and reports.
- Develop material and equipment specifications and support procurement activities.
- Assist with proposal development, scope definition, conceptual design, project schedules, and cost estimates.
- Coordinate design efforts with civil, structural, electrical, instrumentation & controls, and facilities engineering teams.
- Improve engineering processes, tools, and project execution methodologies.
- Mentor and train junior engineers and technical staff.
- Interface directly with clients and external stakeholders.
- Provide occasional construction-phase and field support.
- Support business development and client growth initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related engineering discipline from an accredited program required.
- Master's degree may be considered in lieu of a portion of required experience.
- Minimum 6-7 years of pipeline engineering experience required.
- Experience supporting engineering, consulting, EPC, or infrastructure projects preferred.
- Strong knowledge of pipeline design and engineering principles.
- Proficiency with engineering design software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, or similar platforms.
- Working knowledge of applicable pipeline codes and regulations, including natural gas and liquid pipeline standards.
- Experience leading design efforts and coordinating multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical writing skills.
- Ability to review engineering deliverables for quality and accuracy.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Willingness to travel as project needs require.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
