About the Opportunity
A well-established engineering consulting firm is seeking a Construction Inspector to support transportation and infrastructure projects throughout Indiana. This role offers the opportunity to work on a variety of roadway, bridge, utility, and site development projects while collaborating with engineers, contractors, and public agencies to ensure quality construction and compliance with project specifications.
Responsibilities
- Perform daily construction inspections on transportation and infrastructure projects.
- Monitor contractor activities to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and quality standards.
- Review construction materials, workmanship, and installation procedures.
- Document project progress through detailed field reports, daily diaries, and photographic records.
- Conduct measurements and quantity calculations for pay estimates.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, contractors, utility companies, and agency representatives.
- Identify construction issues and communicate recommendations for resolution.
- Verify compliance with safety requirements and traffic control standards.
- Assist with project closeout documentation and final inspections.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
- Experience performing construction inspection on roadway, bridge, utility, or transportation projects.
- Familiarity with INDOT standards, specifications, and construction practices preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering plans, specifications, and contract documents.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction documentation software.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and travel to project sites as needed.
Preferred Experience
- INDOT construction inspection experience.
- Certifications such as INDOT Certified Technician, ACI, ICC, or related industry credentials.
- Experience with bridge rehabilitation, roadway reconstruction, utility coordination, or traffic maintenance projects.
