Electrical Design Engineer (MEP)
A multidisciplinary engineering consulting firm is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to support the planning, design, and documentation of building electrical systems in their Raleigh, North Carolina office. This role offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced engineers and project managers on a variety of commercial, institutional, healthcare, and infrastructure projects.
The successful candidate will contribute to the development of electrical system designs and construction documents while collaborating within a team-oriented project environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the design and production of electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and low-voltage systems.
- Prepare construction drawings, design documentation, and technical specifications.
- Coordinate with engineers, project managers, architects, and other design professionals throughout project development.
- Support multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining schedules and project budgets.
- Participate in design reviews and quality control processes.
- Assist with field investigations, site visits, and project documentation as needed.
- Contribute to projects from concept development through construction support.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Several years of experience utilizing industry-standard design software such as Revit, AutoCAD, or similar platforms.
- Understanding of electrical building systems and construction documentation.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Detail-oriented with strong time management skills and the ability to manage changing project priorities.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally as required.
Preferred Experience
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or progress toward professional licensure.
- Experience supporting electrical design projects within the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry.
- Familiarity with electrical installation, construction administration, or field observation activities.
- Working knowledge of applicable electrical codes and industry standards.
- Experience supporting healthcare, institutional, education, commercial, or similar facility types.
- Familiarity with building information modeling (BIM) workflows and coordinated design environments.
