Electrical Engineer

A respected multidisciplinary engineering consulting firm is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join its growing team. This role offers the opportunity to work on a variety of commercial, institutional, healthcare, educational, and industrial projects while collaborating with experienced engineers and project managers throughout all phases of design and construction.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical building systems design, experience working within an MEP consulting environment, and a desire to contribute to technically challenging and impactful projects.

Responsibilities

  • Design electrical systems for a variety of building types, including power distribution, lighting, grounding, fire alarm, and low-voltage systems.
  • Prepare construction documents, specifications, calculations, and technical reports.
  • Coordinate electrical designs with mechanical, plumbing, architectural, and structural disciplines.
  • Perform load calculations, short-circuit studies, voltage drop analyses, and equipment sizing.
  • Participate in project meetings with clients, architects, contractors, and internal team members.
  • Conduct site visits, field investigations, and construction administration activities as needed.
  • Review shop drawings, RFIs, and submittals during construction.
  • Support project managers in maintaining project schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and applicable building codes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • 5+ years of experience in electrical design within the consulting engineering, MEP, or building systems industry.
  • Experience designing electrical systems for commercial, healthcare, education, government, industrial, or similar facility types.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred but not required.
  • Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, and electrical design software.
  • Working knowledge of NEC, NFPA, energy codes, and other applicable standards.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience leading portions of projects and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Familiarity with emergency power systems, generator design, and lighting controls.
  • Experience supporting projects through construction administration.
  • Understanding of sustainable design principles and energy-efficient building systems.
