About the Opportunity
Our client is a nationally recognized MEP engineering and sustainability consulting firm that partners with building owners, institutions, healthcare organizations, commercial real estate groups, and public sector clients to improve facility performance, reduce energy consumption, and advance decarbonization goals.
They are seeking an experienced Energy Manager to lead and grow their energy services practice in the New York Metro region. This is a strategic leadership opportunity for an individual who combines strong technical expertise with client-facing consulting skills and a passion for developing teams and expanding service offerings.
The Energy Manager will play a key role in business development, project execution, mentoring junior staff, and establishing a stronger market presence for the firm's growing energy and sustainability practice.

- Leading energy engineering and sustainability projects for commercial, institutional, healthcare, and higher education clients.
- Managing and mentoring a small team of energy engineers and analysts while supporting their professional development.
- Performing and overseeing energy audits, retro-commissioning studies, building assessments, and decarbonization initiatives.
- Identifying opportunities for energy conservation measures (ECMs) and developing implementation strategies.
- Providing clients with actionable recommendations to improve building performance, reduce operating costs, and achieve sustainability goals.
- Serving as a trusted advisor to clients throughout project planning and execution.
- Supporting utility incentive, electrification, and carbon reduction programs.
- Collaborating with MEP engineering teams to integrate energy efficiency strategies into project designs.
- Assisting with proposals, presentations, and business development activities.
- Helping grow the firm's energy services presence throughout the New York City and Northern New Jersey markets.
- Building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, owners, facility managers, architects, and industry partners.
- Managing project schedules, budgets, deliverables, and client communications.
The Energy Manager should have the following...
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Energy Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in energy engineering, energy consulting, sustainability, building performance, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience leading projects and mentoring junior team members.
- Strong knowledge of commercial building systems including HVAC, controls, central plants, and building automation systems.
- Experience performing energy audits, facility assessments, energy modeling, or retro-commissioning studies.
- Understanding of decarbonization, electrification, energy master planning, and sustainability initiatives.
- Professional Engineer (PE), Certified Energy Manager (CEM), or similar credential preferred.
- Strong communication and presentation skills with experience interacting directly with clients.
- Business development experience or an interest in helping grow a consulting practice is highly desirable.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced consulting environment.
