Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior Manager, High Voltage Technical Services to lead high voltage testing, protection, and commissioning operations across utility, industrial, and power generation projects. This role combines technical leadership, project management, and team development responsibilities, supporting the successful execution of complex electrical infrastructure projects while maintaining strong client relationships and driving operational excellence.
This is a field-based position requiring significant travel. Remote work is available when not supporting onsite project activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, schedule, and develop relay technicians and field service personnel.
- Oversee testing, troubleshooting, maintenance, and commissioning activities for protective relays, control systems, substations, and power generation facilities.
- Review relay settings, protection schemes, wiring diagrams, and control logic to ensure reliable and compliant system operation.
- Develop commissioning plans, testing procedures, and project documentation.
- Provide technical leadership for relay protection, controls, system upgrades, design reviews, and troubleshooting efforts.
- Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, client deliverables, and overall field execution.
- Coordinate field activities to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within scope.
- Support workforce planning, performance development, and resource allocation across multiple projects.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through technical expertise, communication, and responsive service.
- Assist with proposal development, estimating, technical reviews, and business development initiatives.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of substation and power plant protection systems, relay schemes, transformers, metering, controls, and SCADA systems.
- Experience commissioning utility, industrial, or power generation facilities.
- Proficiency with relay testing equipment, including platforms such as Omicron, Doble, and Megger.
- Strong troubleshooting, leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and field teams simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with low-voltage power systems, transfer switch systems, and communication networks.
- Experience working with SEL relays, PLCs, excitation systems, and advanced protection schemes.
- NETA, NICET, or equivalent industry certification.
- Previous involvement with substation upgrades, system modernization, and power generation commissioning projects.
Education & Experience
- High school diploma required; associate degree, technical certification, or equivalent industry training preferred.
- 10+ years of relay testing, protection, and commissioning experience.
- Previous supervisory, project leadership, or field management experience required.
