Environmental Project Manager

Summary: We're looking for an Environmental Project Manager to lead due diligence, site assessment, and remediation projects for public sector clients, including municipalities, counties, and other government agencies. You'll be the main point of contact for clients, manage project teams and budgets, and build long-term relationships with public sector stakeholders. This role is a good fit for someone who enjoys both the technical work and the client side of consulting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) and due diligence projects for municipal and public sector clients, including property acquisitions, redevelopment, and infrastructure projects.
  • Oversee site investigation and remediation projects, including soil, groundwater, and vapor assessments, remedial planning, and cleanup work.
  • Act as the main contact for municipal staff, public works departments, and agency stakeholders, and explain findings, risks, and recommendations clearly and on time.
  • Build project scopes, schedules, and budgets, and track them through project delivery in line with public sector contracting requirements.
  • Review and prepare technical reports, proposals, cost estimates, and regulatory documents.
  • Coordinate field staff, subcontractors, and laboratories to keep projects on schedule and within budget.
  • Work with state and local regulatory agencies on site assessment, remediation, and closure requirements.
  • Support business development by keeping current public sector clients engaged, finding new opportunities, and helping respond to RFQs and RFPs.
  • Mentor junior staff and review their technical work.
  • Support a strong health and safety culture on all projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, geology, engineering, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of environmental consulting experience.
  • A Professional Engineer (PE) or Professional Geologist (PG) license, or the ability to get one within one year.
  • Project management experience in environmental consulting, including responsibility for scopes, budgets, and schedules.
  • Client-facing experience, preferably with municipalities or other public sector clients.
  • Strong background in Phase I and Phase II ESAs, due diligence, and remediation.
  • Familiarity with public sector procurement, on-call contracts, or grant-funded work (such as brownfields programs) is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of ASTM standards, AAI, and federal and state environmental regulations.
  • Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills, including presenting to public stakeholders.
