About the opportunity

I'm working with an established healthcare consulting organization that is looking to add an Activation Manager to its growing activation team.

This is a dedicated healthcare activation role, rather than activation sitting underneath a general project management or move management function. The position will support major healthcare capital projects from planning and construction through building readiness, FF&E deployment, operational readiness and final occupancy.

The Activation Manager will act as a key link between healthcare clients, clinical teams, construction teams, architects, equipment planners, vendors and other project stakeholders. Depending on project size and complexity, you may support a senior team member or take the lead on activation activities directly.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage activation schedules, project milestones, resource requirements and dependencies across complex healthcare projects.
  • Coordinate FF&E and medical equipment deployment, including delivery, installation, relocation and room-by-room placement.
  • Support building and departmental readiness ahead of occupancy, identifying potential issues that could affect activation or deployment.
  • Facilitate activation meetings and cross-functional planning with teams including Clinical Engineering/Biomed, Facilities, IT, Supply Chain, Security, EVS and construction stakeholders.
  • Coordinate closely with owners, architects, general contractors, MEP trades, equipment vendors and healthcare leadership throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support fixed medical equipment coordination, including in-wall/on-wall requirements, pre-installation inspections, shop drawings, RFIs and site readiness.
  • Maintain activation schedules as construction milestones, vendor lead times, client priorities and project dependencies change.
  • Manage risk and issue tracking, helping resolve potential roadblocks before they impact deployment or occupancy.
  • Participate in site walks, building readiness assessments and pre-installation inspections.
  • Coordinate vendor activities including equipment delivery, installation, testing, certification and closeout documentation.
  • Support warehouse and logistics planning associated with FF&E deployment.
  • Track project progress, action items, budgets and schedule performance while keeping clients and project teams informed.
  • Support move and transition planning where required, including departmental moves and relocation of existing equipment and FF&E.
  • Contribute to project closeout, post-occupancy activities and lessons learned.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience within healthcare building activation or a closely related healthcare capital-project environment.
  • Strong understanding of hospital or clinical operations, departmental workflows and the challenges involved in bringing new or renovated healthcare spaces into operation.
  • Experience working alongside construction, design, facilities, clinical and vendor teams.
  • Understanding of architectural drawings, construction documentation, project schedules and equipment specifications.
  • Strong project coordination, problem-solving and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and communicate effectively in fast-moving project environments.
  • Confident communicating with both project-level stakeholders and executive leadership.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and project management/tracking platforms. Experience with Smartsheet, Attainia, Fit Up or Revit is beneficial.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline is preferred.
  • Willingness to travel to healthcare project sites as required. Some projects may require extended periods of travel.

Why join?

This is a particularly strong opportunity for someone who wants activation to be their core discipline, rather than a small part of a broader project, construction or move-management position.

You'll be part of a team focused specifically on healthcare activation, working across the full project lifecycle and gaining exposure to construction coordination, building readiness, medical equipment and FF&E deployment, logistics, transition planning and operational readiness.

There is genuine variety in the work. Projects can take you from early activation strategy and stakeholder planning through construction coordination and site readiness, all the way to deployment, occupancy and post-project closeout.
