Overview

A leading construction and engineering organization is seeking an experienced Electrical MEP Engineer to support mission critical projects. This role is responsible for managing increasingly complex electrical and MEP-related construction activities, supporting preconstruction efforts, developing system evaluations, coordinating commissioning activities, and ensuring quality execution throughout project delivery.

This position offers a clear growth path into senior-level engineering leadership while working on highly technical projects in the data center and mission critical sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support project safety initiatives and promote a strong culture of quality and risk management.
  • Develop budgetary electrical and MEP estimates based on conceptual, programmatic, and schematic design information.
  • Evaluate electrical and mechanical system options and provide recommendations based on cost, constructability, performance, and schedule considerations.
  • Perform system analyses and identify value engineering opportunities.
  • Assist in developing and coordinating MEP subcontract scopes of work during procurement and bidding activities.
  • Review subcontractor proposals and participate in bid evaluations.
  • Develop system sequencing plans and provide solutions to support project schedules.
  • Review design documents and identify potential constructability and quality concerns.
  • Conduct site inspections to verify compliance with project specifications and quality standards.
  • Support and manage shop drawing and submittal review processes.
  • Participate in commissioning efforts, including development of pre-functional checklists and functional testing procedures.
  • Verify contractor completion of commissioning activities and resolution of deficiencies.
  • Assist in the preparation and management of commissioning documentation and project closeout deliverables.
  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to continuous process improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical discipline.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and relevant experience will be considered.
  • Approximately 5+ years of experience in construction, engineering, mission critical, data center, or related building systems environments.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Understanding of MEP systems, construction processes, and commissioning practices.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and industry-standard construction and engineering software.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams, clients, contractors, and design professionals.

Preferred Background

  • Experience supporting mission critical or data center projects.
  • Exposure to commissioning, quality control, or field engineering activities.
  • Knowledge of electrical power distribution systems and MEP coordination practices.
  • Experience evaluating system alternatives and supporting value engineering efforts.
