The team supports transportation and infrastructure projects throughout Virginia and is looking for an engineer who can take ownership of drainage studies, stormwater design, floodplain analysis, and permitting efforts while working closely with experienced transportation and water resources professionals.

Compensation: $140,000 - $185,000+ depending on experience

  • Prepare and review drainage reports, permit packages, construction plans, and technical documentation
  • Analyze bridge and culvert hydraulics, including scour and stream stability evaluations
  • Coordinate with regulatory agencies and transportation stakeholders
  • Support water quality and quantity compliance requirements
  • Develop cost estimates and assist with project delivery efforts
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across Virginia
  • Participate in occasional field investigations and site assessments

What They're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
  • Virginia PE license, or ability to obtain shortly after joining
  • 11-15 years of experience in water resources, drainage, or transportation engineering
  • Strong experience with transportation-related stormwater and hydraulics projects
  • Knowledge of Virginia stormwater regulations and permitting requirements
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Team-oriented attitude with the ability to work independently when needed

Technical Experience Desired

  • Hydrologic and hydraulic modeling
  • Transportation drainage design
  • Stormwater management and BMP design
  • Erosion and sediment control design
  • Floodplain studies and FEMA coordination
  • CLOMR and LOMR preparation
  • Culvert, bridge, and scour analysis
  • Stream stability evaluations
  • HEC-RAS and other hydraulic modeling software
  • GIS applications and watershed analysis
  • Development of plans, specifications, quantities, and cost estimates

Why It's Worth Considering

  • Opportunity to work on high-profile transportation and infrastructure projects across Virginia
  • Strong technical team with experienced mentors and leadership
  • Exposure to complex water resources and hydraulics challenges
  • Clear pathway toward senior technical leadership or project management
  • Flexible work arrangements and strong work-life balance
  • Competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits package
