Professional Land Surveyor

A well-established, Bay Area-based land surveying and civil firm is looking for a Project Surveyor to join their growing team out of their Walnut Creek office. With a second location in Oakland, the firm delivers projects across Contra Costa, Alameda, and surrounding Bay Area counties, spanning land development, public infrastructure, and mapping work that directly shapes local communities.
This is a strong opportunity for a motivated survey professional who enjoys running projects from the office, coordinating with field crews, and mentoring survey technicians through complex mapping and construction tasks. You'll act as both a key technical resource and a project manager owning deliverables, safeguarding data quality, and working shoulder-to-shoulder with engineers, clients, and field staff in a fast-paced, problem-solving environment.
What You'll Be Doing
- Managing survey tasks from project kickoff through final deliverables
- Reviewing and interpreting engineering plans, title documents, and field notes
- Preparing and overseeing boundary, ALTA/NSPS, topographic, and construction-related survey documents
- Performing and reviewing calculations for construction staking, control networks, and mapping
- Processing, analyzing, and running QA/QC on field survey data
- Preparing maps, plats, legal descriptions, and exhibits for parcels, easements, and right-of-way
- Coordinating daily with field crews, survey technicians, project managers, and clients
- Keeping project schedules, budgets, and quality standards on track
- Providing mentorship and technical guidance to survey technicians
What They're Looking For
- Strong grasp of boundary analysis, legal principles, and survey methodologies
- Proficiency with Auto-CAD Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, and related survey software
- Ability to read and interpret civil improvement plans, subdivision documents, and construction drawings
- Experience preparing ALTA surveys, Records of Survey, Parcel/Final Maps, and related deliverables
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to juggle multiple projects at once
- Clear, professional written and verbal communication
- A collaborative mindset and commitment to high-quality work
- California LS required
- GIS (ESRI) experience is a plus
