Professional Land Surveyor / Project Manager
Location: Butte, Helena, or Bozeman, Montana
A growing multidisciplinary engineering and environmental consulting firm is seeking a Professional Land Surveyor / Project Manager to lead survey operations throughout Montana. This individual will oversee survey projects, manage field and office staff, and play a key role in supporting transportation, infrastructure, land development, and environmental projects across the region.

Responsibilities
- Manage survey projects from proposal through completion, ensuring successful delivery of scope, schedule, and budget.
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and technical oversight to survey field crews and office personnel.
- Conduct and oversee boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, construction staking, and control surveys.
- Collect and process survey data using GPS, robotic total stations, levels, and other modern surveying technologies.
- Research deeds, title reports, plats, legal descriptions, and survey records to establish property boundaries.
- Prepare survey maps, exhibits, legal descriptions, reports, and related documentation.
- Coordinate with engineers, architects, contractors, agency representatives, and clients throughout project execution.
- Perform quality assurance and quality control reviews of survey deliverables.
- Ensure compliance with state regulations, professional standards, and safety requirements.
- Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D, survey processing software, and geospatial tools to support project delivery.
- Support client development efforts and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients.
Qualifications
- Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license in Montana or ability to obtain Montana licensure through reciprocity.
- 5+ years of experience managing survey projects and leading survey teams.
- Bachelor's degree in Land Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- Strong understanding of boundary law, survey principles, and surveying best practices.
- Experience with GPS, robotic total stations, data collectors, and modern survey technology.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, or equivalent survey software.
- Demonstrated experience managing project schedules, budgets, and client expectations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven leadership experience mentoring survey crews and junior staff.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
