Project Manager - Land Development
A nationally recognized and reputable engineering and design consultancy is seeking a Project Manager to join its growing Land Development team in Atlanta. This position offers the opportunity to lead a diverse portfolio of commercial, residential, mixed-use, industrial, and institutional projects while working alongside experienced technical leaders in a collaborative and growth-oriented environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for project delivery, client management, financial performance, and team leadership, overseeing projects from initial planning and design through construction.
Responsibilities
- Lead land development projects from concept through construction.
- Manage project schedules, budgets, staffing plans, and deliverables.
- Oversee site design efforts, including grading, drainage, stormwater management, utility coordination, and permitting.
- Review engineering plans, reports, and technical documentation to ensure quality and compliance with company standards.
- Conduct ordinance reviews and coordinate with local municipalities, utility providers, and regulatory agencies.
- Develop project scopes, fee proposals, schedules, and change orders.
- Monitor project financial performance, including invoicing, accounts receivable, and profitability.
- Manage client relationships and serve as the primary point of contact throughout project delivery.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary project teams and ensure deadlines are achieved.
- Conduct site visits and support construction-phase activities as required.
- Mentor and develop junior engineers and designers.
- Identify project challenges and develop practical engineering solutions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- 8+ years of land development or site development experience.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferred.
- Strong proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Experience managing project budgets, schedules, and technical deliverables.
- Strong understanding of local land development regulations and permitting processes.
- Knowledge of stormwater management, grading, drainage, hydrology, and hydraulic design.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
Preferred Experience
- Construction administration or construction oversight experience.
- Experience working directly with municipalities, counties, and regulatory agencies.
- Previous staff mentoring and project leadership experience.
- Advanced technical expertise in site development and stormwater design.
- Experience supporting proposal preparation and business development efforts.
