A growing environmental consulting firm is seeking a Remediation Practice Leader to drive the expansion of its remediation and environmental restoration services throughout the Chicago market and broader Midwest region.

This is a highly visible leadership opportunity for a senior environmental professional who excels in client development, project leadership, team management, and strategic business growth. The successful candidate will help shape the future of the practice while overseeing a diverse portfolio of remediation, site investigation, brownfield, and regulatory compliance projects.

Responsibilities

Practice Growth & Leadership

  • Lead the strategic growth and development of the remediation practice

  • Establish annual business goals and growth initiatives

  • Identify new market opportunities and expand existing service offerings

  • Serve as a key contributor to the firm's long-term environmental growth strategy

Client Development

  • Build and maintain relationships with industrial, commercial, municipal, legal, and development clients

  • Act as a trusted advisor on environmental liabilities, remediation approaches, and regulatory strategies

  • Lead major pursuits, proposals, and business development efforts

  • Grow revenue through both existing client relationships and new client acquisition

Project Management & Technical Oversight

  • Oversee complex remediation, site investigation, and environmental compliance projects

  • Guide project teams through regulatory closure, risk management, and remediation implementation

  • Review technical deliverables, remediation plans, and regulatory submissions

  • Ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget

Team Development

  • Mentor project managers, engineers, geologists, and environmental scientists

  • Support hiring, staff development, and succession planning initiatives

  • Foster a collaborative, entrepreneurial, and client-focused culture

  • Promote technical excellence and continuous professional development

Financial Management

  • Manage practice performance, including revenue growth, profitability, backlog, and resource planning

  • Oversee proposal pricing, project forecasting, and operational metrics

  • Monitor project financial performance and identify opportunities for improvement

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Engineering, or a related discipline

  • 10+ years of environmental consulting experience

  • Strong background in site investigation, remediation, and regulatory compliance

  • Proven track record of business development and client management

  • Experience leading teams and managing project portfolios

  • Knowledge of Illinois remediation programs and environmental regulations preferred

  • Strong communication, negotiation, and leadership skills

  • PE, PG, CHMM, or similar licensure preferred
