Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and preparation of complex air permitting applications for industrial facilities.
- Manage regulatory compliance projects involving federal, state, and local environmental requirements.
- Conduct emissions inventories, calculations, and technical evaluations of air pollution control systems.
- Oversee air dispersion modeling analyses and support environmental impact assessments.
- Review technical reports, compliance documentation, and environmental studies for accuracy, completeness, and regulatory compliance.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to clients regarding environmental permitting strategies and compliance obligations.
- Coordinate project schedules, budgets, deliverables, and client communications.
- Develop productive relationships with regulatory agencies and key stakeholders.
- Mentor junior engineers and environmental professionals.
- Support broader environmental compliance programs, including stormwater, spill prevention, waste management, and community reporting requirements.
- Monitor regulatory developments and industry trends to proactively advise clients and project teams.
- Contribute to business growth through client relationship development and identification of new project opportunities.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- 8+ years of experience supporting industrial environmental compliance and air quality programs.
- Strong understanding of environmental permitting requirements, emissions calculations, and regulatory compliance frameworks.
- Experience managing projects, budgets, schedules, and client relationships.
- Excellent technical writing, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
Preferred
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Experience with major source permitting and operating permit programs.
- Familiarity with air quality modeling software and environmental data analysis tools.
- Multi-state regulatory experience.
- Prior consulting experience supporting industrial, manufacturing, energy, or infrastructure clients.
- Experience mentoring technical staff or leading small project teams.
