As a Senior Construction Inspector, you will serve as a key field representative, working directly with owners, contractors, and project teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project plans and specifications. This role offers excellent project variety, significant responsibility, and the opportunity to contribute to meaningful infrastructure improvements across the Kansas City region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary liaison between owners, contractors, design teams, regulatory agencies, and project stakeholders.
  • Perform daily field inspections and construction observations to verify compliance with plans, specifications, permits, and contract requirements.
  • Monitor contractor progress, construction schedules, and overall project performance.
  • Attend pre-construction meetings, progress meetings, and project coordination meetings.
  • Prepare detailed daily reports documenting work performed, labor, equipment, quantities installed, weather conditions, and site activities.
  • Review and document construction issues, schedule impacts, safety concerns, and potential claims.
  • Verify materials testing and quality assurance activities are completed in accordance with project requirements.
  • Review contractor pay applications and assist with construction administration documentation.
  • Identify non-conforming work and coordinate corrective actions with project teams and contractors.
  • Maintain organized project records, field notes, inspection logs, and construction documentation.
  • Support substantial completion inspections, punch list development, final inspections, and project closeout activities.
  • Coordinate with project managers and engineers to proactively resolve field issues and keep projects moving forward.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior inspection staff as needed.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of construction inspection experience on transportation, municipal, utility, or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, specifications, and quality control practices.
  • Experience interpreting engineering plans, contract documents, and technical specifications.
  • Ability to identify construction deficiencies and communicate solutions effectively.
  • Experience with project documentation, daily reporting, and construction administration.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with clients, contractors, engineers, and project stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction management software.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites throughout the Kansas City region.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MoDOT, KDOT, municipal, or transportation project experience.
  • Certifications such as ACI, NICET, MoDOT, KDOT, or other relevant construction inspection credentials.
  • Experience serving as a Resident Project Representative (RPR) or lead inspector.
  • Associate's degree or technical training in construction, engineering technology, or a related field.
