Are you an experienced Forensic Engineer looking for the opportunity to lead complex investigations, work directly with clients, and play a key role in evaluating and restoring the built environment?

We are seeking a Senior Forensic Engineer looking to grow out a forensic team in Chattanooga. This position offers the opportunity to investigate structural failures, building damage, construction defects, and deterioration issues across a wide variety of commercial, residential, industrial, and institutional properties. This is a senior, strategic position combining technical leadership, team development, client management, business growth, and hands-on forensic investigations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead forensic investigations involving structural distress, building failures, water intrusion, storm damage, and construction-related issues.
  • Establish and lead a new forensic engineering office and team in Chattanooga.
  • Conduct detailed site inspections and condition assessments of existing structures.
  • Prepare technical reports, repair recommendations, and engineering opinions.
  • Develop repair and rehabilitation solutions for damaged or deteriorated buildings and structures.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously from initial assignment through final deliverables.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to property owners, attorneys, insurance representatives, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Mentor and support junior engineers and technical staff.
  • Assist with proposals, scope development, fee estimates, and client relationship management.
  • Participate in expert witness assignments and litigation support activities when required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required. SE license preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in structural engineering, forensic engineering, building diagnostics, or a related consulting environment.
  • Proven ability to guide, mentor, and develop engineers at different stages of their careers.
  • Previous experience developing a team, office, service line, or regional market is strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of structural systems, building envelopes, construction methods, and failure mechanisms.
  • Experience preparing technical reports and presenting findings to clients.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, and structural analysis software is advantageous.
  • Strong communication and client-facing skills.
  • Ability to manage projects independently while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
