An established engineering consulting firm in the St. Louis metro area is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join its growing team. With a strong reputation across Missouri and Illinois, the firm provides geotechnical engineering, construction materials testing, environmental consulting, and development services to a diverse range of public and private sector clients. This position offers the opportunity to take ownership of projects, build client relationships, contribute to business development efforts, and play a key role in the continued growth of the geotechnical practice.
Responsibilities
- Develop proposals and scopes of work for geotechnical investigations
- Maintain and expand relationships with existing and prospective clients
- Manage geotechnical projects from initial proposal through final report delivery
- Coordinate drilling programs and oversee subcontracted field exploration activities
- Review subsurface data and determine appropriate laboratory testing programs
- Performgeotechnical analyses and design, including:
- Settlement analyses
- Bearing capacity evaluations
- Shallow foundation recommendations
- Drilled pier design and calculations
- Pavement design
- Grading recommendations
- Retaining wall foundation design and stability evaluations
- Seismic reviews and design calculations
- Review laboratory testing results and interpret findings
- Prepare geotechnical engineering reports and recommendations
- Assist with project management, budgeting, and invoicing
- Collaborate with architects, structural engineers, contractors, developers, and public-sector stakeholders
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or related discipline
- Master's degree preferred
- PE license required or ability to quickly obtain PE licensure in both Missouri and Illinois
- Strong experience in geotechnical consulting and engineering design
- Experience preparing technical reports and recommendations
- Proven client-facing communication and relationship-building skills
- Experience managing multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
- Business development experience is highly desirable
