Senior Geotechnical Engineer

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

Geotechnical Engineering & Design

• Perform geotechnical analyses and engineering calculations consistent with project and contractual requirements.
• Support and monitor subsurface exploration programs, including evaluation of field information, soil classification, testing data, and engineering results.
• Prepare calculations, design sketches, technical specifications, and other geotechnical design documentation.
• Contribute to engineering reports and technical recommendations.
• Apply geotechnical engineering principles to shallow and deep foundations, retaining structures, dams, and related project conditions.
• Review field, laboratory, and testing information and incorporate findings into engineering evaluations.

Project Delivery

• Support projects throughout initiation, planning, execution, financial administration, and final delivery.
• Assist with project tracking, invoicing, documentation, and coordination of deliverables.
• Work with multidisciplinary teams to maintain the technical quality and timely completion of assigned work.
• Participate in preparation of proposals and related project documentation.
• Coordinate geotechnical field activities with clients, contractors, and subcontractors.

Construction & Field Support

• Provide construction observations and other geotechnical construction-phase services.
• Review applicable submittals and requests for information.
• Conduct occasional project-site visits and use field testing equipment when required.
• Evaluate samples, field data, and testing results.
• Coordinate effectively with clients, contractors, engineers, inspectors, and other project participants.

Team Leadership

• Review technical work prepared by junior staff when assigned.
• Coordinate technical input from project and senior-level professionals.
• Provide appropriate direction and guidance to less-experienced team members.
• Contribute to effective project planning and collaboration across the broader project team.

Qualifications

• 5 to 15 years of relevant geotechnical engineering experience.
• Current Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or an equivalent field.
• Master's degree in a related discipline is preferred.
• Project-management experience is strongly preferred.
• Experience with subsurface exploration programs and soil classification.
• Experience evaluating laboratory testing results and preparing geotechnical engineering reports.
• Technical experience involving shallow and deep foundation design.
• Experience with retaining wall and dam design.
• Ability to effectively coordinate geotechnical assignments with clients, contractors, engineers, inspectors, and internal project teams.
• Working proficiency with AutoCAD 2020 or later and Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to complete OSHA 10-Hour Construction Safety and Health Training within a reasonable period following hire.
• Valid and acceptable driver's license and access to a personal vehicle for occasional project-site travel.
