We are representing an industry-leading Data Centre developer and operator looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join its growing engineering team. This is an opportunity to play a key role in the design, development, and delivery of hyperscale and mission-critical facilities across the APAC region, supporting projects from concept design through construction and operations. Based in Sydney, you'll work alongside development, construction, operations, and technology teams to deliver highly resilient, efficient, and scalable data centre environments.
What You'll Be Doing
- Act as the mechanical engineering subject matter expert across data centre development projects.
- Review and provide guidance on mechanical system designs, ensuring quality, reliability, and operational excellence.
- Support the design, delivery, commissioning, and optimisation of mission-critical facilities.
- Work closely with project, development, and operations teams to develop innovative and efficient cooling solutions.
- Lead technical assessments, due diligence activities, and engineering reviews for new developments and acquisitions.
- Contribute to engineering standards, design frameworks, and long-term operational strategies.
- Engage with consultants, contractors, vendors, and customers throughout the project lifecycle.
- Drive sustainability initiatives, focusing on energy efficiency, carbon reduction, and resilient infrastructure solutions.
What We're Looking For
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Proven experience delivering mechanical systems for data centres or other mission-critical facilities.
- Strong understanding of cooling technologies, chilled water systems, CRAH/CRAC units, thermal management, and mechanical plant selection.
- Experience with design management and project delivery across multiple project stages.
- Knowledge of commissioning, testing, and quality assurance processes.
- Ability to work across multidisciplinary engineering teams and influence key stakeholders.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical audiences.
- A passion for innovation, digital infrastructure, and continuous improvement.
