Senior Mechanical Engineer (Remote)
Overview
A consulting organization is seeking a senior mechanical engineer to support electric power generation projects for utility, developer, and industrial clients. This role focuses on project development, conceptual design, technical evaluations, owner's engineering services, and technical due diligence for conventional power generation assets.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide engineering and project development support for conventional power generation projects.
- Perform technical evaluations of generation facilities and project opportunities.
- Conduct engineering design reviews and owner's engineer assessments.
- Support conceptual design and feasibility studies.
- Participate in technical due diligence efforts for asset acquisitions and project financing.
- Assist with project economics, cost estimates, risk assessments, and contract development.
- Prepare technical reports and communicate findings to clients and project stakeholders.
- Support domestic and occasional international projects.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology from an accredited engineering program.
- 10+ years of experience in the power generation industry.
- Demonstrated experience with the design of mechanical systems for conventional power plants, including one or more of the following:
- Simple-cycle gas turbine facilities
- Combined-cycle power plants
- Coal-fired generation facilities
- Steam generation and balance-of-plant systems
- Reciprocating internal combustion engine (RICE) power plants
- Experience supporting project development and conceptual design activities.
- Strong technical writing, communication, and client-facing skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience performing technical due diligence and owner's engineering reviews.
- Knowledge of power plant operations, performance evaluations, and process systems.
- Familiarity with project economics, cost analysis, and commercial contract development.
- Understanding of international engineering codes and industry standards.
Travel
- Periodic domestic travel with occasional international travel opportunities.
