Senior Project Manager - Land Development
A well-established, employee-focused engineering and environmental consulting firm is seeking a Senior Project Manager to join its growing Land Development team in the New York (White Plains, Melville, NYC, or Syracuse location)
The successful candidate will oversee projects from concept through construction, working closely with leadership and technical teams on a diverse portfolio that includes residential, commercial, mixed-use, institutional, and industrial developments.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and permit a variety of land development projects for public and private sector clients.
- Lead project teams through planning, design, permitting, and construction phases.
- Serve as a client-facing project lead, maintaining strong relationships and supporting business development initiatives.
- Collaborate with office leadership on team growth, staffing, and resource planning.
- Oversee site/civil engineering design, including:
- Site layout
- Grading and drainage
- Utility and infrastructure design
- Stormwater management systems
- Erosion and sediment control measures
- Prepare and review hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, stormwater reports, and permitting documentation.
- Coordinate with geotechnical, environmental, survey, and permitting professionals throughout project execution.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance across project teams.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- 10+ years of site/civil engineering experience focused on land development projects.
- Proven experience managing projects and leading multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong technical background in site design, grading, drainage, utilities, stormwater management, and permitting.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar design software.
- Experience preparing technical reports, proposals, and client presentations.
- Active involvement in professional industry organizations is a plus.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Ability to balance multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced consulting environment.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to attend client meetings and site visits as needed.
