About the Opportunity

Our client is a nationally established engineering and infrastructure consulting firm that partners with public agencies and transportation organizations to deliver complex roadway, highway, and transportation improvement programs. With a reputation for technical excellence, collaboration, and long-term investment in its employees, the firm continues to expand its transportation presence throughout the Midwest.

As part of this growth, they are seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead transportation design projects, strengthen client relationships, and support the continued development of a high-performing engineering team in the Chicago market.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, design, and delivery of transportation infrastructure projects.
  • Manage project scope, schedule, budget, and overall execution.
  • Serve as a primary client contact for state, county, and municipal agencies.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams across engineering and technical disciplines.
  • Oversee the development and review of plans, specifications, and engineering deliverables.
  • Support proposal efforts, project pursuits, and business development initiatives.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with transportation clients and stakeholders.
  • Mentor and lead a team of junior engineers and contribute to team growth and professional development.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with quality standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • 15+ years of transportation or roadway design experience.
  • Proven experience managing transportation infrastructure projects.
  • Strong understanding of roadway design principles, agency standards, and project delivery processes.
  • Experience leading project teams and managing client relationships.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience working with DOT, county, and municipal transportation clients.
  • Background in roadway, highway, intersection, or multimodal transportation projects.
  • Demonstrated success supporting project pursuits and business development efforts.
  • Prior experience mentoring and developing technical staff.
