Senior Restoration Engineer

A growing engineering and building consulting firm is seeking a Senior Restoration Engineer to join its New York City team. This position offers the opportunity to lead complex building restoration, rehabilitation, and preservation projects throughout the city while playing a key role in mentoring staff and supporting the continued growth of the practice.

The successful candidate will work on a diverse portfolio of existing buildings, ranging from multifamily and commercial assets to historic and architecturally significant structures. This is a highly visible role with direct involvement in project execution, client relationships, and technical leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage façade, roofing, waterproofing, plaza, parking structure, and building envelope restoration projects
  • Oversee building investigations, condition assessments, and restoration design
  • Prepare and coordinate FISP/Local Law 11 reports and DOB submissions
  • Perform site inspections using various access methods, including scaffolding and aerial lifts
  • Develop repair details, construction documents, and technical specifications
  • Manage project teams, schedules, budgets, and resource planning
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technical staff
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, ownership groups, and project stakeholders
  • Support proposal preparation, scoping, and business development efforts
  • Perform structural analysis and rehabilitation design for existing buildings

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • 7+ years of experience in building restoration, rehabilitation, structural repair, or building envelope consulting
  • Strong understanding of NYC FISP/Local Law 11 requirements
  • Experience managing multiple projects and coordinating project teams
  • Proficiency with structural analysis software such as RAM, STAAD, or RISA
  • Experience with existing buildings, restoration design, and condition assessments
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office
  • Strong written, verbal, and client-facing communication skills
  • Experience with landmark, historic preservation, or complex restoration projects is highly desirable
  • Familiarity with the New York City market and regulatory environment
