Overview

A nationally recognised engineering, surveying, and geospatial consulting firm is seeking an experienced Senior Survey Project Manager to support and grow its Survey/Geomatics practice across Massachusetts.

This leadership role is responsible for overseeing survey projects from proposal through final delivery, managing project teams, maintaining client relationships, and ensuring projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

The firm's survey and geospatial division utilises advanced aerial, terrestrial, and subsurface data collection technologies to deliver accurate mapping, surveying, and geospatial solutions for transportation, infrastructure, land development, and public-sector projects.

Compensation: $150,000-$170,000+ depending on experience, licensure, and location.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple survey projects simultaneously, ensuring successful delivery of scope, schedule, budget, and quality objectives.
  • Lead, mentor, and supervise survey staff, providing technical guidance and project oversight.
  • Develop project work plans, staffing strategies, schedules, and budgets.
  • Monitor project performance, productivity, profitability, and client satisfaction.
  • Oversee quality assurance and quality control processes across all assigned projects.
  • Coordinate project teams and resources to maintain efficient utilisation and project execution.
  • Prepare and support proposals, fee estimates, and business development initiatives.
  • Maintain strong client relationships and identify opportunities for additional services.
  • Negotiate scope changes, schedule adjustments, and fee modifications as needed.
  • Review project budgets and forecasting reports to ensure financial objectives are met.
  • Collaborate with internal leadership and technical experts to resolve project challenges.
  • Coordinate invoicing and support collections efforts.
  • Mentor junior professionals and assist with staff development initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with company safety programs, standards, and operating procedures.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license or equivalent professional registration preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive survey and project management experience.
  • Experience supporting or managing transportation-related survey projects.
  • Strong understanding of project budgeting, scheduling, QA/QC, and client management.
  • Proven leadership experience overseeing technical teams and large-scale projects.
  • Strong communication, organisational, and business development skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining high-quality deliverables.
