Expected salary range: $118,800 to $132,000, based on experience. This role also includes bonus eligibility and a 401(k) match.


Responsibilities

Primary Purpose of the Position

The Senior Business Development Manager (BDM) plays a key role in supporting customer acquisition and business development efforts for a digital energy procurement platform operated by my client. This individual partners closely with sales leadership to identify and prospect targeted customers, introduce them to the platform, and guide them through the digital purchasing process.

The role includes proactive outreach to potential customers, engagement of warm leads, participation in industry networking and events, and support of broader marketing and prospecting activities that expand platform awareness.

The Senior BDM also provides ongoing sales support to ensure a positive customer experience from initial engagement through contracting.


Primary Duties and Accountabilities

  • Develop and maintain a strong understanding of the company's digital energy procurement platform and broader energy fundamentals in order to effectively communicate value to prospective customers.
  • Identify and pursue new prospects through cold outreach, email campaigns, networking, follow‑up on marketing‑generated leads, and participation in industry events.
  • Manage and maintain an active pipeline of prospective customers while tracking opportunities that may fall outside the current digital platform scope (e.g., natural gas, managed products, large RFPs, and other energy‑related service opportunities).
  • Guide prospective customers through the full digital journey-from account setup to contract execution-using virtual collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams and Zoom.
  • Address and resolve customer inquiries via chat, email, and phone by identifying issues, coordinating with internal pricing, technology, and operations teams, and tracking progress through CRM and service systems.
  • Collaborate with leadership, product teams, and marketing to recommend enhancements to the digital customer experience based on customer feedback and real‑time market insights.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 8 years of energy industry experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 8 years of customer‑facing experience (sales, sales support, customer service, or account management), with strong outbound engagement skills
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships
  • Proficiency in Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in a fast‑paced environment
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and time‑management skills, with the ability to make independent decisions
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a customer‑focused approach
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in outside sales, sales support, or customer support for an eCommerce or SaaS‑based platform
  • Experience supporting go‑to‑market strategy or sales efforts for new digital products
