A growing multidisciplinary design and engineering firm is seeking a Structural Department Manager to lead and develop a structural engineering team while overseeing a diverse portfolio of modular projects. This leadership position combines technical expertise, project oversight, client engagement, staff mentorship, and strategic growth initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of structural engineers and designers.
- Oversee project execution, ensuring quality, profitability, and on-time delivery.
- Manage client relationships and serve as a trusted technical advisor.
- Provide technical guidance on a variety of structural projects across multiple market sectors.
- Coordinate with architects, contractors, and multidisciplinary project teams.
- Support business development efforts through networking, proposal preparation, and client engagement.
- Review structural calculations, drawings, specifications, and project deliverables.
- Assist with staff recruiting, performance management, and professional development initiatives.
- Drive department growth, operational improvements, and strategic planning efforts.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required; SE license preferred.
- 8+ years of structural engineering experience.
- Previous experience leading teams, managing projects, or serving in a supervisory capacity.
- Strong background in structural design utilizing steel, concrete, wood, and masonry systems.
- Experience with building design projects and multidisciplinary project coordination.
- Proficiency with industry-standard structural analysis and design software.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills.
- Strong business acumen with an interest in contributing to organizational growth.
