Survey CAD Technician/ Right-of-Way Mapper
Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Survey CAD Technician / Right-of-Way Mapper to support transportation and land surveying projects throughout Northeast Florida. This role will focus on preparing survey mapping, right-of-way (ROW) exhibits, and construction documents in support of FDOT and municipal projects.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing team with a strong backlog of transportation work and long-standing client relationships across the region.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare survey drawings, base maps, and plats using field data, legal descriptions, and client requirements
- Develop right-of-way maps, parcel exhibits, and alignment sheets for FDOT and local agency projects
- Interpret deeds, title commitments, and legal descriptions for ROW acquisition mapping
- Process and integrate field survey data (points, surfaces, alignments) into CAD deliverables
- Support the preparation of topographic surveys, boundary surveys, and construction staking plans
- Ensure deliverables meet FDOT standards, client specifications, and quality control requirements
- Coordinate with surveyors, engineers, and project managers to maintain project schedules
- Assist with revisions, redlines, and document control throughout project lifecycles
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in survey CAD or ROW mapping
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D (MicroStation experience is a plus, especially for FDOT work)
- Strong understanding of survey principles, boundary analysis, and mapping standards
- Experience preparing right-of-way maps and parcel exhibits preferred
- Familiarity with FDOT standards and procedures is highly preferred
- Ability to read and interpret legal descriptions and title documents
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects
Preferred Experience
- Experience supporting FDOT or transportation projects in Florida
- Exposure to utility coordination or subsurface utility engineering (SUE) mapping
- Knowledge of GIS platforms is a plus
- Florida Surveying & Mapping Society (FSMS) involvement or related certifications is a plus
