Survey Crew Chief
A top client of ours in Minnesota is looking for an experienced Survey Crew Chief to lead field operations on a variety of land development and infrastructure projects across the U.S. This role offers hands-on leadership, technical challenge, and opportunities for career advancement.
Role & Responsibilities
- Lead field survey crews in collecting accurate data using advanced GNSS, robotic total stations, 3D scanners, and digital leveling equipment
- Interpret site plans, maps, and survey data to ensure precision in field point calculations and adjustments
- Oversee daily field operations, ensuring safety, efficiency, and data integrity
- Train and mentor junior field staff, promoting best practices and technical growth
- Maintain and manage survey equipment with a focus on reliability and calibration
- Collaborate with licensed surveyors on boundary research, easement analysis, and field-to-office workflows
- Support aerial survey operations using drone technology
- Travel as needed to meet project demands across various locations
Requirements
Required:
- Strong proficiency with Trimble survey systems including GNSS receivers, robotic total stations, scanners, and controllers
- Ability to read and interpret survey plans and compute field adjustments
- Excellent communication skills and ability to lead teams effectively
- High attention to detail and strong organizational habits
- Willingness to travel within the U.S.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
Preferred:
- 5-8 years of field surveying experience
- LSIT certification
- Experience mentoring field technicians
- Familiarity with drone surveying and UAS operations (DJI Matrice 300 RTK)
- Understanding of field-to-finish workflows and data processing
