Position Summary

A growing independent systems integrator is seeking an experienced Director of Data Center Delivery to build and lead its mission-critical data center delivery organisation.

The company provides automation, process control, manufacturing intelligence, cybersecurity, and industrial networking solutions. Its projects span the full lifecycle, from initial requirements definition and system design through implementation, commissioning, and turnover.

This senior leader will oversee the delivery portfolio for the company's data center division, including:

• Project and program execution
• Portfolio financial performance

Working closely with technical leadership, sales, operations, and the executive team, the Director will help establish the organisation as a trusted delivery partner for hyperscale, colocation, and enterprise data center customers.

Although the position will support the continued growth of the data center business, its primary objective is to build a high-performing delivery organisation capable of executing large and complex programs safely, predictably, and profitably.

Key Responsibilities

Delivery Leadership

• Lead the successful execution of the data center project portfolio.
• Ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in line with customer expectations.
• Establish delivery governance, reporting cadences, and executive project reviews.
• Drive consistency across project execution, forecasting, risk management, and customer communication.
• Lead recovery plans for projects requiring senior-level intervention.
• Develop scalable delivery processes capable of supporting continued business growth.

Program and Portfolio Management

• Manage a portfolio of complex, mission-critical automation and controls projects.
• Balance operational priorities across multiple customers, project sites, and delivery teams.
• Develop portfolio-level reporting, forecasting, and performance measurements.
• Ensure effective resource allocation across concurrent projects and programs.
• Partner with project management leadership to continuously improve delivery practices.
• Identify and resolve portfolio-level schedule, financial, resource, and operational risks.

Project Management Leadership

• Recruit, mentor, and develop Project Managers and Program Managers.
• Establish best practices for:
• Project planning
• Scheduling
• Financial forecasting
• Earned value management
• Change management
• Project controls
• Risk management
• Develop repeatable project delivery methodologies.
• Implement structured lessons-learned and continuous-improvement processes.
• Promote accountability, transparency, and consistent execution across the delivery organisation.

Financial Performance

Take ownership of the financial performance of the data center delivery portfolio, including:

• Revenue delivery
• Gross margin
• Forecast accuracy
• Project profitability
• Change-order management
• Resource utilisation
• Risk identification and mitigation
• Cost and schedule performance

Partner with executive leadership on annual planning, financial forecasting, and operational performance reviews.

Customer Leadership

Serve as the executive delivery leader for strategic data center customers.

Responsibilities will include:

• Leading executive project reviews
• Managing customer escalations
• Supporting schedule-recovery discussions
• Communicating project and program risks
• Leading commercial and change-order negotiations
• Building long-term customer confidence
• Strengthening relationships with key client stakeholders

The Director will also partner with sales teams during major pursuits by demonstrating the organisation's delivery capabilities, governance structure, and project execution methodology.

Team Development

Build and lead a scalable delivery organisation that may include:

• Project Managers
• Program Managers
• Delivery Coordinators
• Construction Managers
• Commissioning Managers

Requirements

Education, Experience and Qualifications

• At least 15 years of experience leading large industrial, mission-critical, infrastructure, automation, or controls projects.
• Previous hyperscale or colocation data center experience.
• Experience delivering industrial automation or controls systems.
• Proven experience managing complex project portfolios valued at more than $25 million.
• Demonstrated success leading Project Managers, Program Managers, and multidisciplinary delivery teams.
• Strong program and portfolio management experience.
• Experience managing senior and executive-level customer relationships.
• Experience coordinating with EPC firms, construction managers, contractors, commissioning teams, vendors, and field personnel.
• Strong understanding of project financial management, forecasting, risk management, and change control.
• Excellent leadership, communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to operate effectively within fast-paced, active construction and mission-critical environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• PLC and SCADA project delivery experience.
• Commissioning and startup experience.
• Familiarity with Ignition or comparable SCADA platforms.
• Exposure to DDC, BAS, or BMS systems.
• Experience supporting data center mechanical and electrical infrastructure.
• Familiarity with formal project controls and earned value management.
• Experience building or scaling a project delivery organisation.

Working Environment

Duties will be performed in both an office environment and at customer project sites, including active data centers, mission-critical facilities, and construction environments.

Travel is a significant component of the role and may be required up to 50%. This may include extended periods on site during critical project phases such as coordination, startup, commissioning, testing, and turnover.

• Control rooms
• Active construction areas

Appropriate personal protective equipment may be required depending on the project environment.

Physical Requirements

The successful candidate must be able to:

• Sit or stand for prolonged periods consistent with a typical workday.
• Operate a computer, printer, and standard office equipment.
• Complete frequent project-site walkthroughs.
• Climb stairs and ladders when required.
• Occasionally access or inspect the interior of equipment.
• Stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl when necessary.
• Move, position, install, remove, or inspect various types of equipment.
• Lift approximately 30 to 50 pounds without assistance.

$190,000 to $225,000 per year
