BAS Application Engineer
An established building automation systems integrator is seeking an experienced BAS / HVAC Controls Applications Engineer to support projects across the Greater Hartford area. This role combines design, estimating, and technical delivery, with a strong focus on Tridium Niagara-based systems.
Our client is a well-regarded contractor with a strong presence in the region, delivering building automation and HVAC controls solutions across commercial and institutional environments. Engineers are given the autonomy to contribute meaningfully while continuing to develop their technical and commercial capabilities.
* Develop BAS and HVAC controls design solutions for new and retrofit projects
* Prepare detailed cost estimates, including materials, labour, and engineering effort
* Engineer and configure control systems using Tridium Niagara platforms
* Produce control drawings, sequences of operation, and technical submittals
* Support project teams through the full lifecycle, from pre-sales to delivery
* Review project specifications and ensure compliance with client requirements
* Collaborate with project managers, field engineers, and clients
* Assist with system troubleshooting and optimisation where required
* Provide technical input during client meetings and project reviews
* Minimum 5 years of experience in BAS or HVAC controls engineering
* Proven experience in system design and application engineering
* Strong background in estimating and project cost development
* Hands-on experience with Tridium Niagara (Niagara N4 preferred)
* Solid understanding of HVAC systems and control strategies
* Ability to interpret plans, specifications, and sequences of operation
* Strong communication and stakeholder coordination skills
* Experience with retrofit and energy efficiency projects
* Exposure to commissioning or field engineering activities
* Familiarity with integration protocols and third-party systems
* Experience across sectors such as healthcare, education, or commercial real estate
