Building Automation Design Engineer
Are you a Building Automation Design Engineer looking to work on complex commercial, healthcare, higher education, industrial, and mission-critical projects?
Our client is seeking a Design Engineer to support the design, engineering, and development of building automation solutions for a diverse portfolio of projects. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys the technical side of controls, system architecture, and HVAC sequence development.
Responsibilities
- Design Building Automation and DDC control systems for new construction and retrofit projects
- Develop control drawings, network architecture layouts, panel designs, and points lists
- Create sequences of operation based on project requirements and specifications
- Review mechanical and electrical drawings to develop controls solutions
- Generate submittal packages, product selections, and engineering documentation
- Coordinate with project managers, field teams, contractors, consulting engineers, and end users
- Support commissioning, startup, and project closeout activities as needed
- Ensure designs comply with project specifications, codes, and industry standards
Requirements
- Experience designing Building Automation, HVAC Controls, or Energy Management Systems
- Strong understanding of HVAC equipment, control strategies, and system applications
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical, electrical, and controls drawings
- Experience creating control diagrams, submittals, points schedules, and system documentation
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Visio, Bluebeam, or similar design software
- Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with BAS platforms such as Tridium Niagara, Distech, Johnson Controls, Honeywell, Siemens, Schneider Electric, Alerton, ALC, or similar
- Knowledge of BACnet, Modbus, LonWorks, and IP-based building networks
- Experience with data centers, healthcare facilities, laboratories, higher education, or large commercial buildings
- Familiarity with commissioning and system startup activities
- Engineering degree or equivalent industry experience
