HVAC Controls Project Manager

Our client is a well-established Building Automation and HVAC Controls contractor seeking a Project Manager to lead complex controls projects throughout Greater Boston. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional who can manage projects from kickoff through closeout while remaining engaged with the technical and operational aspects of delivery.
Unlike highly administrative PM roles, this position is ideal for someone who enjoys being visible in the field, supporting project teams, solving technical challenges, and maintaining close relationships with customers.
You'll work on a diverse portfolio of commercial, healthcare, education, life sciences, and mission-critical facilities while helping shape the next phase of growth for a respected controls organization.
Responsibilities
- Lead Building Automation and HVAC Controls projects from award through completion
- Manage project scope, schedule, budget, and profitability
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, subcontractors, and internal teams
- Coordinate engineering, programming, commissioning, installation, and service resources
- Conduct site visits and field reviews to ensure quality and project success
- Support technical problem-solving and help remove project roadblocks
- Review drawings, specifications, and control sequences
- Manage project documentation, change orders, risk mitigation, and forecasting
- Mentor junior Project Managers, Engineers, and Field Technicians
- Drive customer satisfaction and identify opportunities for future work
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of Building Automation, HVAC Controls, or related project management experience
- Strong technical understanding of control systems, HVAC operations, and system integration
- Experience managing commercial Building Automation projects from start to finish
- Ability to work effectively with field teams, engineers, programmers, and customers
- Comfortable balancing office responsibilities with regular field involvement
- Experience reviewing controls drawings, submittals, and technical documentation
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
